CENTRAL EUROPE ( GERMANY )

The landforms of Central Europe can be divided into four broad areas. First is plains which is an area of low, gently rolling topography and dense populations. Second is, mountains where the Alps is one of the great mountain range systems of Europe. The highest mountain in the Alps is Mont Blanc , at 4,810.45 meters (15,782 feet). The third and the fourth is plateaus and hills.
Countries in Germany is  Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland.



CLIMATE
Climate in Central Europe include desert, steppe, Mediterranean, humid subtropical, temperate marine, highlands, and humid continental.

GERMANY

Germany, also known as Federal Republic of Germany is a country in Central Europe. It is bordered to the north by the
      to north Sea, Denmark, and the Baltic Sea
      to the East by Poland and the Czech Republic
      to the South by Austria and Switzerland
      to the West by France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands
With 82.2 million population, it is the most populous member state of the European Union and home to the third-largest number of international migrants worldwide.



PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY


Elevation ranges from the mountains of the Alps (highest point: the Zugspitze at 2,962 metres / 9,718 feet) in the south to the shores of the North Sea (Nordsee) in the north-west and the Baltic Sea (Ostsee) in the north-east. 


CLIMATE AND WHEATHER


Low and high pressure systems change much quicker, due to the fact that Germany is influenced by dry continental air masses from Eastern Europe and by maritime air masses from the Atlantic. This, generally, leads to a moderate climate with good rains throughout the year. Germany have four season. April to May is spring season. June to September is summer season. October to November is autumn season and December to March is winter season. Northwestern and coastal Germany have a maritime climate caused by warm westerly winds from the North Sea, the climate is characterized by warm summers and mild cloudy winters.


LOCATION

Germany borders with Denmark in the north, Poland and the Czech Republic in the east, Austria and Switzerland in the south, France and Luxembourg in the south-west and Belgium and the Netherlands in the north-west.


NATURAL RESOURCES

The most significant natural resources are iron ore, coal, potash, timber, lignite, uranium, copper, natural gas, salt, nickel, arable land and water.


TOURIST ATTRACTION IN GERMANY

THE CATHADRAL OF COLOGNE

The Cathedral of Cologne is one of Germany's most important architectural monuments and the third tallest cathedral in the world. It took over 600 years to construct this gothic masterpiece, and when it was finished in 1880, it was still true to the original plans from 1248.


NEUSCHWANSTEIN CASTLE

is popularly known as the Sleeping Beauty Castle. It is widely acclaimed for its architectural excellence. The castle is located in  south west Bavaria, near the town of Fussen.  It was built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, also known as the “Fairytale King” in 19th century. It has been visited by approximately 1.3 million people.


THE BLACK FOREST

This is the greatest forests of Germany. This is also is the best places to explore the natural beauty of the country. Sitting in the south west corner of the state of Baden-Württemberg, the Black Forest borders France, Switzerland, and the Neckar River. This forest acquired its name due to a large concentration of pine trees which causes it to look quite dark from a distance. Additionally, the nearby mountains can cast their shadows over the valleys and further serve to darken it. The forest itself is an area of heavily wooded mountains and verdant valleys. The city of Baden-Baden, also popularly known as the gateway to Black Forest is located among the foothills.


SWITZERLAND

It is founded in 1291 as a union of three cantons chafing against Habsburg rule. Switzerland has been independent since 1815. Switzerland is a landlocked country that shares its boundary with Austria and Liechtenstein in the east, France in the west, Italy in the south and Germany in the north.  60% of its area is covered by the Alps mountain range. It is one of the most peace loving countries of the world and has had no wars since the early 16th century.


CLIMATE 


Switzerland has a varied set of climates; the west is influenced by the Winds blowing in from the Atlantic, the east has a continental climate, the south of the Alps the climate is almost Mediterranean. The average temperature in Switzerland is 8.6 °C (47 °F). The average temperature range is19 °C. The highest monthly average high temperature is 23 °C (73 °F) in July & August. The lowest monthly average low temperature is -4 °C (25 °F) in January. 


SWISS PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY

Switzerland’s three main geographical regions are the Jura, Mittelland (Middleland)/ Central Plateau and the Alps. The Alps cover over 60% of the land area in Switzerland. Mittelland or Middleland (land area in between mountain ranges) covers 30% of the land. The Jura Mountains cover 10% of the land.


TOURIST ATTRACTION IN SWITZERLAND


THE CHILLON CASTLE

It is located on the shore of Lake Geneva, the Chillon Castle is one of the most famous castles in Switzerland. Furthermore, it consist of 100 buildings, it dates back to the 11th century and is the former residence of the Savoy nobility. It also has three courtyards and four great halls which offer magnificent views of the lake beyond.


JURA

Jura, in the far northwest corner of the country, is a rural gem.




SWISS NATIONAL PARK

It is Switzerland's only national park, covering almost half the area of the entire country. It is founded in 1914 as one of the first national parks in Europe. It is a sanctuary for various wildlife such as elks, marmots and eagles, as well.
